In 2006, O.A.R. created the Heard The World Fund, built to support youth and education in the United States. Through their music, the band hopes to raise awareness and resources for worthy individuals, groups, and organizations making a positive impact in their communities.
The Heard the World Fund has donated close to $700,000 to a variety of recipients. Some examples:
As an alumnus of the Liberty Schools District, it was important for band member Jerry DePizzo to contribute to the revitalization of the ailing schools. HTW has since financed music programs, new instruments, and new computers for the entire district.
The Ohio State University Endowment. As alumni of OSU it was important for the band to provide scholarships to students in need.
Children’s Scholarship Fund. HTW has awarded hundreds of scholarships for elementary aged inner city children to attend private schools throughout the country. Marc Roberge was awarded with a Champion for Children award for his hard work and dedication to CSF.
Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA). Throughout the years, HTW has supported the IAVA in many ways from donation, to events, to collaborating on content.
